DTM DATE FOR 2012 VOLKSWAGEN RACING CUP

Next year’s Volkswagen Racing Cup will feature two races on the bill at the fabulous German touring car meeting at Brands Hatch.

The provisional Cup calendar for 2012 features seven events with two races at each, most of them alongside the British F3 and British GT championships.

The ‘jewel in the crown’ is a double-header on the Brands Hatch Indy track as part of May’s DTM festival. “We are very pleased indeed to have secured a slot alongside DTM,” said Sam Roach of championship promoter RacingLine. “It will be great for competitors and spectators and is a nice fit for our tyre partner, Hankook, because it supplies the DTM also.”

There will be a further five meetings – on the Silverstone and Donington Grand Prix circuits, Snetterton’s ‘300’ circuit, at Oulton Park and Rockingham – alongside F3/GT, plus a yet to be confirmed visit to a top European Grand Prix track.

“We are hoping to finalise the overseas date in the next couple of weeks,” added Roach, “and that will take the championship to 14 races spread over seven events, which we feel is the right number.”
