First raced in 1974 at the wheel of a Mk I Ford Escort in modified saloons. Drove an F5000 McLaren in Formule Libre between 1980 and '82. 1988 Scottish Saloon Championship class winner. Raced in the BTCC in the late '80s before a career break. Production saloons 90/91, Renault Spiders 98/99, Renault Clio UK Cup 2000/01. Made his Volkswagen Racing Cup debut in 2002, taking one outright and two Class A wins in his Beetle and finishing the season third overall in the championship and second in Class A. Experimented unsuccessfully with turbo power for his Beetle in 2003, nonetheless claiming eighth in championship and two race seconds
